A CONFIRMATORY APPROACH OF THE STRUCTURE OF ZIMBARDO’S TIME PERSPECTIVE CONCEPT

Written by Romeo Zeno CRETU on . Posted in Volume XVI, Nr. 4

ABSTRACT

In this study we tested two alternative confirmatory models intended to represent the structure of Time Perspective (TP) concept (Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999), using a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The 56 items ZTPI questionnaire was applied to 1.260 Romanian ethnics, a total of 794 persons (63%) being female. The mean age of the sample was 30.66 (SD = 11.34). CFA revealed that a five dimension model of time perspective construct is tenable: RMSEA = .036, GFI = .976, CFI = .971. The five TP dimensions were replicated on this Romanian sample, demonstrating at least a partial cross-cultural extension of this concept.
