ABSTRACT

Multidisciplinary approaches to the study PTSD are receiving increasing attention all over the world. In Romania can be identified in the last decades several sources of psychotraumas (adverse environmental natural factors, stressful political events, brutal economical changes, aggression, violence or sexual abuses on women and children). Only some of them have been partially described. The aim of this paper is to register the observations and investigations performed on this topic in Romania, especially in Bucharest and Cluj. Tables and additional data are summarizing the studies on PTSD dealing with acute or long-term medical and psychological consequences of various traumatic events, particularly earthquakes, floods, political persecution and violence. These findings suggest that a larger psychophysiological and clinical strategy concerning origins, assessment, prevention and management of PTSD in necessary. The elaboration of a data base on this topic seams to be the first step..
