COGNITIVE INHIBITION OF IMAGISTIC MATERIAL:FINDINGS AND APPLICATIONS

Written by Aurora SZENTAGOTAI on . Posted in Volume V, Nr. 4

Abstract:

Cognitive inhibition studies have so far been focused mainly on verbal material. Considering the differences that appear between the processing of verbal and imagistic material, the aim of the current research was to study existing differences in the cognitive inhibition of words and images. The experimental paradigm employed was that of intentional forgetting. Possible applications are also mentioned that justify the comparative study of the way the two categories of material are processed.
