ABSTRACT

A critical reflection on research practices is more informative about what's happened in a discipline than looking either to theories or methods. We found that the industrialisation of research implies a depersonalisation of the researcher, atomisation of data and theories and an increased impact of money and market over the domains of psychological inquiry. The search for general psychological mechanisms content and context-free seems to be an epistemic failure, an unfortunate legacy from natural sciences. We urge for exploitation rather than production of knowledge, for theory-construction rather than methodolatry and for risk-taking in psychological inquiries.
